Sony had claimed that it has the world's thinnest LCD TV. Meet the Bravia ZX1.

The Sony Bravia ZX1 just measures 9.9mm at its slimmest point. This TV is available in three screen sizes, 42in, 46in and 52in. Though the screen sizes differs, all are packed with 1080p resolution. According to Sony, the LCDs are side-mounted to achieve the slimness as opposed to the traditional backlighting arrangement.

If you are one of those cable-free junkies, then this TV is definitely for you. The ZX1 is using “Bravia 1080 Wireless” technology. Though at 100Hz refresh rate might not be that fast, it still allows the TV to communicate wirelessly with an adaptor unit packing three HDMI ports.

No launch date yet for the ZX1 but if you cannot afford the OLED TV, then save up $3270 for the Sony ZX1 instead.

LG X110

LG had joined in the netbook market with the introduction of its first netbook, the X110. The netbook though is not a truly unique LG technology. It is more of a copycat of the earlier released MSI Wind netbook. The only difference is the HSDPA 3G modem built into this device which is lacking in the MSI Wind. With the built-in modem, users of the LG X110 can browse the internet from anywhere by simply inserting a SIM card in the unit.

The LG X110 can be purchased at £299 without 3G option. But no worries since you can still connect to the internet using the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi or 10/100Mb/s Ethernet port. For the full featured netbook, expect to shell out £350.

Finally SteelSeries had released the World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse which many hardcore World of Warcraft gamers might have been waiting for.

The top features of the WoW mouse includes light in the "cracks" across the back of the mouse. The light does not convey any information though. It is simply for aesthetics. The size is unlike other mouse, it is rather large but it is nice and comfortable since it supports the player's hand. But the most uncommon feature of this mouse is the 15 individually programmable buttons. Just install the downladable Windows-only software and you can assign 160 interchangeable macros to the 15 programmable buttons.

If you are really into World of Warcraft MMO Gaming, then shell out $99 for this mouse.

A fix for the latest Barracuda bricking fault will be available in 24 hours according to Seagate. Quoting the hard drive manufacturer, "This firmware upgrade will be available on the Seagate website within 24 hours""

The fix, which is already the second, will be a firmware update to fix the previously released firmware (SD1A) that was released to fix the original firmware (SD15) which has caused some 1TB Barracuda 7200.11 hard drives and others to quit working.

Seagate is trying its best to assure its customers that data on their drives will not be lost as the firmware faults render the drives inaccessible but doesn't cause corrupted data on the drive. It is not usual to experience manufacturing problems and bugs in the tech industry but surely it is not easy to fix once a flaw in the technology is detected.

Accenture, an outsourcing firm in the Philippines, is laying off approximately 3 percent or approximately 500 of its workforce here in the Philippines. The company said that this is being done in line with their "redundancy” program. The program is being implemented "to balance the skills of its workforce against the demand from its clients", according to Accenture.

The outsourcing firm has been operating in the Philippines for more than 20 years already and for the last few years, it had ramped up its workforce due to the outsourcing boom.

The Philippines has the third-largest headcount in Accenture's global network, next to the US and India.

TAPCO Gears and Accessories

The technology that we have today is very far from that of the previous years. This is true for the military technology as well. If before, combat solely depends on an army's physical and mental condition which includes strength, agility, stamina and knowledge, today technology plays a more important role in the Armed Forces.

But even if we or an individual has the latest in the Armed Forces technology, the usefulness and effectivity of that still relies on the soldier or the individual who is using it. We cannot eliminate the human factor. It is analogous to the guns and ammunitions that a military or law enforcement personnel is using. It is already tied up to their jobs. Even if they are using complex gadgets and tools, they still need the basics. They will always need guns and gun accessories. Not to mention the tactical gear and other gadgets that they are using.

Of course there are a lot of suppliers where someone can get their military gear and gun accessories. But if I were to suggest, better get it from Brigade Quartermasters. They are offering Tapco Guns which had been around for 20 years. Nothing except quality can make one last that long.

Asus Eee Phone

Posted by JCO | 1/15/2009 08:45:00 PM | | 0 comments »

At long last Asus already confirmed that they are all set for the Eee Phone. That was according to the firm’s Chairman Johnny Shih.

Shih said, during an interview with the New York Times, that “Eee phone may become an interactive control”. Sadly his statement says little else about the Eee phone’s functionality. Will it support 7.2Mb/s HSDPA and have a full touchscreen? Will it be thinner than a Post It, yet as strong as carbon fibre? Many questions remains unanswered. And will remain a mystery up until Asus gives us more information about it.

The Eee phone is not Asus’ first mobile, though. It already unveiled “the fastest business PDA phone in the world” – the P565, which is powered by an 800MHz Marvell processor. It’s rumoured that the Eee phone will run Google’s Android OS and hit the market in March. Again, all this will remain a rumor in the mobile technology world.

Nothing beats good sound quality when playing a game. Be it an RPG online or just a LAN game it is very engaging if the sound is of great quality.

Psyko Audio Labs 5.1 Surround Gaming Headset might be the right gaming headset to use. Surely this beauty will break the heart of hard core gamers. Psyko 5.1 Surround Gaming Headset was designed to replicate the multimedia room surround experience. I'm not sure about the technology used, I heard it was Waveguide Technology, but surely an array of speakers are shrunk to fit in your ear cups. The Psyko 5.1 Surround Gaming Headset has 3 front speakers, 2 rear drivers, plus a subwoofer amplifying your gaming experience.

If you still can't afford a state-of-the-art audio room, then you might as well invest in this Surround Gaming Headset which will cost you around $300.

Sony showed its concept Flexi OLED laptop recently in CES. Though this might take a few years before being realized, it is such a nice concept and is quite interesting. There were three gadgets that was displayed, a Future Concept Reader, Walkman and Vaio notebook, all are using the curved OLED screens which Sony calls as "flexible bio plastic".

The Vaio is really a head turner with the screen and keyboard fused in one OLED that is touch-sensitive. The Walkman looks like a bangle which boasts a touch-sensitive surface that enables user to change tracks. The reader is totally different from what Sony has now but it is banking on the low power draw of the OLED screen so future users will not be using the monochrome screens of today.
