Pentagon using Facebook

It seems like social networking is becoming popular not only with the civilians and the young ones but with the military as well. Social networking site like Facebook and Twitter is now being used by the military in seeking out new and young recruits.

Lt. Gen. Benjamin Freakley, who heads the Army command that oversees recruiting, says social networking sites offer another way to reach tomorrow's soldiers. "They live in the virtual world," Freakley said. He cited Facebook as a key component in targeting 18-to 24-year-olds. "You could friend your recruiter, and then he could talk to your friends."

And mind you it is not only the Army that is using Facebook, the Air Force has its own Facebook page too and not only that they have Twitter feeds and a blog as well. The Marine Corps is said to be using social networking as a tool to get new recruits as well.
