Glitch in Updating Leopard

Posted by JCO | 12/23/2008 07:24:00 PM | , | 0 comments »

A glitch in Mac OS X Leopard machines are preventing some users to automatically update using the built-in software update mechanism.

This was already confirmed by Apple. A note posted by a tech in Apple's Support site says that during the "Configuring installation" in the update process, the machine might stop responding. The problem occurs when a partially downloaded update is installed by the software update.

As a work around, Apple suggest these:
1. go to /Library/Updates
2. move the contents of that folder to the trash
3. re-download and install the update

If you're still having problems with the automatic update, then do it manually.
