Have you lost your phone lately? Good for you if you have not lost a mobile or any other gadget. To those who did, I know how it feels. You don’t only worry about the loss of the device, which might be the latest in technology that you have, but also of the data that you have stored in it.
But thanks to Maverick Mobile, you can somehow increase the security of data if not your phone at all. Maverick Mobile won praises from other participants of a recent DEMO gathering of 72 startups in Southern California by debuting software. All with the aim of letting rightful owners of stolen mobile phones track them, if not turn them in, and torment them as well.
Maverick Secure Mobile software installs itself in the mobile’s hardware not in the SIM card which makes it hard to rid of. So even if the thief changes SIM cards, the owner can still track the phone. The software also encrypts data that is stored in the phone. So once the original SIM is replaced, the software will send the new SIM card number and location data of the phone to another mobile designated by the owner. It will also send the telephone numbers that the thief has called as well as copies of messages that were sent. The best part is, owners can disable the phone or they can have the phone blast an irritating sound which will only stop once the batteries are taken out. Reinstalling the batteries will reactivate the blaring sound. That makes the phone really useless unless the thief wants it as a paperweight.
