OpenOffice 3, the latest version of OpenOffice, now supports Mac. The open source office suite version that was released last Monday has a native port for Mac OS X. That means Mac users can run the alternative to Microsoft Office without having to go through the chore of installing X11, a Unix windowing environment.
OpenOffice version 3.0 now supports ODF 1.2 document format, it also has the ability to handle a wide range of VBA macros, and the ability to open documents from Microsoft Office 2007. Isn't this just great? Downside is, due to the high download demand the site (openoffice.org) is struggling to meet all download reust for the software. A good alternative is getting it from BitTorrent.
