The much awaited launching of the new iPhone 3G last Friday turned out to be a mess after consumers found out that they cannot turn on their new iPhones after purchasing it. The problem was caused by a software glitch in the new phone as what the news says. Also Apple’s iTunes servers are having a global problem, most probably because of the simultaneous release of the new phone in 21 countries last Friday, which prevented the phones from being fully activated.
Apple had much success with its computer line as well as its first generation phones. But what will happen to this not so successful release of the new iPhone? Apple shares fell $4.05, or 2.3 percent, to close Friday at $172.58 amid a general decline in
Good thing is it didn't hit the Philippine market yet. Globe Telecom, the sole carrier of iPhone in the country, said that iPhone 3G will not be available in the local market until later this year.
iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast as the first generation iPhone, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.
